#2 Blackman Outlasts #3 Riverdale Girls; Blaze Beat Warrior Boys

A battle of state girls basketball titans went down to the wire Friday night as #2 Blackman outlasted #3 Riverdale 47-46. Both teams had several runs and the game came down to the wire. Blackman used a 14-to-8 third quarter to take a one point lead they wouldn't give up. The Lady Blaze got balanced scoring. Alex Johnson and K.K. Williams led them with 11 points each. Crystal Dangerfield and Meme Jackson both chipped in 10 apiece. Alexia Middleton led Riverdale with 16-points. Riverdale suffered their first district loss and fall to 13-4, 3-1 in conference play. Blackman improves to 16-1, 4-0 in the district.

The Blackman boys raced out to an early lead and never looked back, defeated Riverdale 62-35. Jauan Jennings led off the game with a three, part of his 19-point performance. Lucas Hart continued his outstanding post play with 14 points. Riverdale was led by Brad Woodson's 8 points. The Blaze improve to 13-3, 3-1 in the conference while the Warriors fall to 12-6, 1-2 in league play.
