The Murfreesboro City Hall Art Committee, in conjunction with Murfreesboro's Peace and Justice Art Committee, is pleased to announce the exhibition: "Diversity: Indigenous Cultures found in the Americas" which remains on display through February 6, 2015, with an exhibit reception, Thursday, January 29 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The exhibit contains art, artifacts, and photography of three MTSU Anthropology professors. Collected over the course of field studies in Central and South America, Drs. Pace, Wyatt, & Peres have assembled an exhibition of significant cultural insight into the native peoples of the Brazilian Rain Forest, Mexico, Panama, and beyond.

Dr. Tayna Peres is a zooarchaeologist who works in Panama, Mexico, and the Southeastern United States; Dr. Andrew Wyatt, an archeobontanist and ethnobotanist, works in Mexico with Mayan peoples; & Dr. Richard Pace is a media anthropologist who works in the Brazilian Amazon with peasants and the Kayapรณ Indians.

Works on display provide an excellent insight into the social, religious, and everyday lives of a region of our world often overlooked from our 21st century western perspective.

With the exception of holidays, the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
