Cowboys and cowgirls racing around barrels and riding bulls will entertain families at the SRO's 11th annual LoneStar Rodeo March 4 and 5 at the Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro.

The rodeo will feature some American bison in the opening that thrills audiences along with bareback riding, bucking broncs, steer wrestling, calf roping and Mighty Mike, the popular clown, said School Resource Officer Sgt. Bill West who coordinates the rodeo.

Doors open at 6 p.m. both nights with the rodeo beginning at 7:30 p.m. both nights at the coliseum located at 304 W. Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro near Siegel High School.

"The rodeo has become a family tradition for many families," Sgt. West said. "The rodeo is a way to support the SRO programs and ensure special needs students can attend the rodeo during a special performance."

Advance tickets are $8 for children under age 12 and $10 for children ages 12 and older and adults. Advance tickets are available from the SROs at every county school and from the Sheriff's Office's Information Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 940 New Salem Highway.

Tickets at the door are $10 for children under age 12 and $15 for children age 12 and older and adults.

LoneStar Rodeo is co-sanctioning the rodeo with the International Professional Rodeo Association of Oklahoma City, Okla., that will open up a new caliber of contestants.

"Wear your cowboy boots and cowboy and cowgirl hats or come casual," Sgt. West said. "We hope many people will attend and make new family traditions."
