2 Marijuana Plants Taken from Murfreesboro Apartment, But No Arrests Made

An out of hand party in Murfreesboro caught the eye of Murfreesboro Police and even a State Trooper. According to city police the party on Monday included “intoxicated partygoers” that were being overly loud. Trooper Mike Cummins, who is a courtesy officer at Raiders Crossing apartments, was evidently having a hard time getting the drunk college age students to cooperate with his demands.

Inside the offending apartment an intoxicated female was found hiding in a closet. Another male was said to be asleep in his bedroom during the commotion. In another room of the apartment officers found an orange five gallon bucket with a light hanging over it. The bucket had two curious green leafy plants growing out of it. One officer wrote in his report that the plants appeared to be marijuana.

Here is where the slight problem comes into play… the partygoers did not live in the apartment so an arrest for the marijuana could not be made. In fact, when police tried to contact the person who is named on the lease, they couldn’t get a hold of him.

After the guest vacated the unit police seized the marijuana and left a business card on the counter.  On the business card one of the responding officers noted that the plants were seized and the information was logged onto a property receipt so that the resident can later claim it. Of course, he may not be able to take it home with him.

WGNS checked with the Sheriff’s Office and so far, the tenant named in the incident report has not been arrested.
