A 24-year old Murfreesboro man who goes by the nickname of "Light Skin" was arrested after he allegedly cut his electronic monitoring device off his ankle. You may note that most people are not electronically monitored, however this man is monitored daily.

You may recall the name Kevin Herrin from past news stories. Herrin is the man who was indicted in 2009 at the age of 19 on a charge of attempted first degree murder. Herrin was accused of shooting William Cantrell in '0-9.

In 2010, Herrin was arrested after leading authorities on a brief pursuit in the area of Eagle Street. He was later convicted on felony charges for going armed while being a convicted felon. In that case he was sentenced to spend 30-months behind bars. Herrin was also suspected of being involved in a shooting that unfolded on Memorial Blvd. in Murfreesboro in May of 2010.

In 2011, the U.S. Department of Justice named Herrin in a Press Release outlining the actions of two local gangs. The release suggested that Herrin and several others approached members of the Vice Lords at Club Drink. During a fight, one man was killed. Herrin, who was not convicted in the case, but tied to it, was later convicted on unrelated federal charges and sentenced in prison.

Several years later Herrin was allowed parole by the Tennessee Department of Corrections with the condition that he wear an electronic monitoring device 24/7. On Sunday, he allegedly cut that device off and was quickly captured by Murfreesboro Police after officers were notified by his probation officer. He was caught at his address on Player Drive, the same place where he was originally arrested in 2009.

On Sunday (April 5, 2015), Herrin was placed under a $22,500 bond at the jail on the New Salem Highway. So far, he has not made bond.
