Rutherford County Extension Agents Michael Shirley and Raquel Victor were recently selected as national winners by the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents for a radio program that they produced in the fall of 2011. They will be recognized during the NAE4-HA awards banquet scheduled for Thursday, October 25 at the association’s national meeting in Orlando, Florida. The radio piece, which aired on WGNS Radio, highlighted the Rutherford County 4-H program’s “Santa’s Workshop”  and featured 4-H member, Ariel Chism describing the “Operation Military Kids” partnership between 4-H and the US Armed Forces. This marks the second year in a row that Shirley and Victor have competed for the national prize having won the Southeastern award last year with a radio piece about the 4-H Pottery group.
