The Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department responded to a duplex fire at 334/336 Caroline Drive just after 4:00 Thursday afternoon.

Districts 1 and 2 and Rescue 9 arrived on scene to heavy smoke coming from the attic, exiting the roof. Crews from District 2 immediately began the initial interior attack. According to Captain/Shift Training Officer Terry Smith, “Crews did an excellent job gaining access to the fire in the attic and putting it [the fire] out.”

Both units received smoke, fire, and water damage. No occupants were home at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries with this incident. The meter was pulled to the home and  the occupants will be displaced. American Red Cross was called to assist.

The Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene to conduct a routine investigation.
