A man and a woman have been arrested on multiple drug related charges in Murfreesboro.  51 Year old Randy Smitty and 42 year old JoAnn Ashford were taken into custody shortly after police responded to the Select Inn off of South Church Street to serve a warrant on Smitty. Once in the hotel room officers say they clearly saw a bag of methamphetamine and marijuana cigarettes next to the bed. Smitty apparently told police they could search his room. Police say they found two more bags of meth and several small baggies of a white powdery substance.

The female who was in the room with Smitty was said to of had a bag of marijuana in her possession. The marijuana was allegedly in Ashford’s purse. The two now face multiple felony related drug possession charges with the intent to sell. Both are being held in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. They will appear in court on June 5th.
