A 63-year old resident of the Poplar Village Apartments has been treated for an accidental gunshot wound. Murfreesboro Police were called to the apartment complex on Poplar Avenue around 4:20 Saturday afternoon.

Ronald Babb told police he dropped his firearm next to his truck and it discharged. He was shot in the left ankle. When authorities arrived, he was inside his apartment. Several people in the complex called police to report hearing gunfire.

The victim also admitted to consuming alcohol. Babb was taken to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital and issued a misdemeanor citation for possessing a firearm while under the influence.
