The Adventures in Agriculture event is set for April 11th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lane Agri-Park in Murfreesboro with free admission. The Lane Agri-Park is located at 315 John Rice Boulevard, just past Sam's Club and Tractor Supply. Farmers will be there to share their knowledge of animals, crops, homegrown foods, handmade products, and more with parents and children. Admission is FREE and open to the public. We will be taking can food donations for the Rutherford County Food bank at registration.

The event, hosted by members and partners of the Rutherford County Agriculture Community, provides many hands-on activities to teach families about the impact agriculture has on our everyday lives. Adventures in Agriculture will have something for all ages. Junior high and high school aged children can compete in "Are You As Strong As A Farmer Challenge" and win prizes. Young children can be a "Farmer for a Day"; an interactive exhibit for children to play at growing crops, harvesting and taking them to market. Children of all ages can play "My American Farm" on our new tablet lab. There will be live horses and farm animals, food displays, gardening information and more. Adults and children alike will have the opportunity to learn heritage skills, such as butter making, spinning yarn and more. Parents can talk with Master Gardeners and learn how to grow your own vegetables in your back yard or in a container garden, no matter how much (or how little) room you have. There will be plenty of games, food and information. Don't miss this family fun day for all ages.
