There are aspects of the Affordable Healthcare Act that are confusing to folks and the Better Business Bureau says scammers are already preying on that. Terrie Page with the local BBB says scammers use confusion and fear to their advantage...
Page says consumers are also getting threatening calls from scammers that threaten them with fines if they don't have health insurance...
The BBB warns Rutherford Countians to keep their personal or financial information to theirselves when receiving these scam phone calls or any other phone calls requesting personal information. The Affordable Healthcare Act, what's referred to as Obamacare and the health insurance exchange, began October 1st with coverage beginning January of 2014. Governor Haslam announced last year that Tennessee would not operate a state-based exchange. Tennesseans will have to apply for coverage, compare plans and enroll at HealthCare.gov.
