A package that possibly contained a forged check for $5,000 was taken into evidence by Murfreesboro Police.
A local woman called the authorities after accepting a job with a company that was supposedly called “Riceland Foods,” according to a police report. Soon after getting hired, the woman told officers she was instructed to accept a check and then deposit it into her account. Her new boss told her via email to then distribute the funds to a subject in Ohio.
Police went to the woman’s address and advised her to cease contact with the company. They took the package that was believed to have contained the check. The Criminal Investigation Division of the MPD was notified.
