Text messages confirming the sale of Xanax were found on the suspect's phone, according to a Murfreesboro Arrest Report.

Police stopped 19 year old William M. Conaway on Friday (4/15/16) and noticed ammunition in his glovebox when he opened it to locate his registration. Evidently, he was pulled over for not stopping at a red light prior to making a turn. The officer who stopped Conaway noted that he seemed very nervous.

When Conaway was searched by police, they found over $2,200 in his possession. They also located a baggie of marijuana in the car, which passenger Jonih A. Kano confessed to possessing. A second baggie outside the car contained 36 Xanax bars, a drug often prescribed for anxiety.

Police later received permission to search the cellphone belonging to 19 year old Kano where they found text messages alluding to the sale of Xanax. A dashcam video on the police cruiser was later reviewed by officers and it was confirmed that the driver threw the Xanax out of the passenger side window of the car prior to stopping. Conaway refused to allow police to search his two cell phones, so they were seized as evidence as was Kano's phone.

While at booking, Kano recanted his statement that the marijuana was his. Conaway however, admitted to police while in booking that he was the one who threw the Xanax out the window.

Both teens face manufacturing charges and a charge for simple possession of marijuana. The duo will appear in court on June 30, 2016.
