Amazon is planning to add 500 additional positions at its Murfreesboro distribution center. The center, which already has around 1,000 workers, first opened in September 2012. The operation is one of two for the company in the Nashville area and one of five statewide.

Amazon says the hourly workers will pick, pack and ship customer orders. New hires are immediately eligible for benefits including health insurance, 401(k) with 50 percent match, bonuses and company stock awards. Amazon also offers full-time employees innovative programs like Career Choice, where the company will pre-pay up to 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon.
