Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast in Murfreesboro Saturday

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast at MTSU will be this Saturday. The Murfreesboro Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is sponsoring its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 9:00 am in the James Union Building on MTSU campus. The Jerry Anderson Heroes/Humanitarians' Awards will be presented at the event.

This year, the Hero Award will go to Capt. Robert Canterbury of the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department.

NAACP is also honoring Lt. Chris Haynes, Sgt. Brian Wright, Deputy Michael Farmer and Deputy Moses Mosby III, all of the Rutherford County Sheriff Dept.

The Humanitarian Award goes to Mrs. Lois Carr of the Allen Chapel AME Church and the Chair of A.C.T.I.O.N., Pastor Richard Sibert of the Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Mr. Derek Blake of the Murfreesboro Boys & Girls Club.

The keynote speaker will be Rev. John R. Faison, Sr., Senior Pastor of Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
