"I am thrilled with the opportunity to leave a footprint in Rutherford County. The people in this community are eager to give back and I could not be happier than to be able to help in some way," said Shannon Wheeler, Race Director.

The Rutherford Romp Foundation, along with presenting sponsor Guaranty Trust Company, have partnered to adopt the principle "leave it better than you found it." By embracing this principle, these groups will be able to fulfill the Rutherford Romp Foundation's mission of leaving a "footprint" on the community. "So many people, in their everyday lives, leave footprints," said Wheeler, "As a previous volunteer for the Child Advocacy Center, I realized there was a need and the footprints were everywhere. The dedicated people, devoted to protecting children, need as many people in our community to walk beside them as possible."

With the success of the 2013 Rutherford Romp, the Foundation is excited to add the Murfreesboro Rescue Mission as an additional benefiting charity. "There is a present and growing need to address homelessness in Rutherford County. We have the opportunity now to get in front and shape the way the county interacts with this issue moving forward," said Wheeler about the Rutherford Romp's partnership with Murfreesboro Rescue Mission.
