The city is a few steps away from getting yet another Walmart store. The Planning Commission is set to have an initial design review Wednesday for a Walmart Neighborhood Market just west of I-24 in the Gateway area.

The proposal calls for a 43,841-square-foot building, a grocery store, on 5.82 acres zoned for Commercial Highway use in a Gateway design area along Manson Pike and Fortress Boulevard. Polestar Development LLC is making the request.

The next Walmart to open is on 231 South near Camino Real. We are told that Walmart, along County Farm Road, is scheduled to open in the early part of 2015.

As you likely know, a Walmart on Memorial Boulevard just recently opened one month before Black Friday. Now, it looks as if we could soon have five Walmart's in Murfreesboro alone.
