An aggravated assault and theft was reported at the Middle Tennessee Supermarket on Middle Tennessee Boulevard this past weekend.

Police arrived at the small market near Greenland Drive and found that the clerk had a cut to the bridge of his nose.

The victim stated, "Three to four black males entered the store. One of the males brought two beers to the counter and showed [the victim] his ID to purchase the beer. [The victim] totaled up the price and advised the subject that the cost of the beer would be around $6. He stated the male was upset with the price and refused to pay. [The victim] pulled the beer to him and the subject argued with him, then he reached over the counter and punched [the victim] one time in the face."

After the punch was thrown, the argument continued, according to the clerk. At one point, the suspect lifted the front of his shirt to show that he was armed with a handgun. After the clerk saw the gun, he stopped arguing with the man.

As the men walked out of the store, one of them grabbed some candy without paying for it.

Police reviewed the store security video and were able to determine what type of vehicle the men left the store in. That vehicle was later pulled over, but fled the scene after briefly stopping. The vehicle later crashed and the occupants took off on foot. Officers were eventually able to capture the men.

Arrested were Kevin Washington, age 18, William Butler, age 22 and Cory Dickinson, age 20. All three face multiple charges in relation to the alleged assault and fleeing from police.
