Detective Jamin Humphress charged suspect Justin Odom, 23, of Amerson Court with first-degree murder of Light and attempted murder of Whittemore. Odom is being held without bond at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

"We're still working to identify the motive for the shooting," Lt. Sparks said. "Odom has known the victims for an extensive period of time."

Sheriff's telecommunicators received a call of a shooting about 9:25 p.m. Monday at the Amerson Court home. Other officers responded to Mark and Pat's Bar on Old Woodbury Highway where Whittemore rode to get help after being shot.

Deputies and Criminal Investigations Division detectives found several people at the home, including Odom.

They questioned witnesses and processed the crime scene all night.

Hearings for both Odom and Young are set Sept. 11 in General Sessions Court.
