(SMYRNA, TN) Quick work by Smyrna Fire Department avoided a potentially hazardous blaze. The call came-in from the Speedway Gas and Convenience Store, 1261 South Lowry Street, at 12:16PM Thursday (10/27/2020) afternoon.

When the first units arrived on the scene, flames were billowing from both the engine compartment and cab of the Ford F-150 pickup. In fact, the black smoke was spiraling high and skyward. Smoke from the fully engulfed truck could be seen in parts of Murfreesboro.

Within a short time, firefighters from the ISO rated 3 department had the flames out and the danger of heat and flames igniting nearby gas pumps resolved.

Smyrna Town Manager Brian D. Hercules said, ""We are grateful for the service of Chief Bill Culbertson and the personnel with Smyrna Fire Department. Our department is committed to serving our citizens with professionalism and compassion while providing the highest level of life and property protection.  Tuesday's truck fire is another example of that commitment in action."
