Smyrna, TN - Shortly after 5:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon (6/30/2024) a vehicle fire at mile marker 68.2 brought 3 of the 4 eastbound lanes of I-24 (toward Chattanooga) to a stop.

The vehicle was on the right shoulder of the interstate. It was total loss and the blaze was so intense that traffic had to stay 

Lanes were opened over an hour later, but it was still traveling through the area at a "crawl".
