Murfreesboro Police are in the midst of an investigation into an attempted murder. Officers responded to 716 Lee Street on Monday night and upon their arrival discovered the body of a man lying in the middle of the road. A crowd of people were standing around the victim who was identified as 26-year old Chris Conley who works at a local car dealership. Evidently Conley was shot after an argument with another individual.

Conley told officers he was attempting to break up a gathering when he was punched in the side of the head. The victim said that he fought the unknown assailant until the subject pulled out a revolver and pointed it in his face. Conley pushed the gun away from his face and ran for safety. While he was running, the gunman fired at least one shot that hit him in the thigh.
