Attempted Murder Suspect on the Run After Cutting GPS Device from Leg

The Murfreesboro Police Department arrested Alexis Lopez-Rodriguez in October, 2011 for the shooting and attempted murder of Casey Skinner at 2449 Old Fort Parkway. Lopez-Rodriguez pleaded guilty to Attempted 2nd Degree Murder in July. Lopez-Rodriguez allegedly opened fire on Skinner, who was driving along Old Fort Parkway. The victim told police that Rodriguez pulled up next to him, rolled down the window and then fired three shots, breaking out the window and hitting the victim in the arm.

While on bond waiting for sentencing, he removed the GPS unit that monitored his location and has absconded. Police believe he may be hiding out in Mexico. He is described as a Hispanic male 21 years old 5’10” 155lbs. Because of his violent history and the probability of a long prison sentence, he should be considered dangerous and likely armed.

Anyone with information regarding the location of Lopez-Rodriguez should call their local police department or the Murfreesboro Police Department at 893-1311. Anonymous tips made to Crime Stoppers (893-STOP) can lead to rewards of up to $1,000.
