SRO Daniel Thomas asked drivers to slow down through school zones, especially on busy roads and highways where children walk.

SRO Thomas asked drivers to be especially careful on U.S. Highway 231 South (Shelbyville Highway) where buses pick up and deliver students.

SROs said drivers should be aware of congested traffic on:

  • Red Hawk Parkway in Smyrna at Stewarts Creek Elementary, Middle and High Schools.
  • Fortress Drive at Blackman Elementary School and Blaze Drive near the Blackman Middle and High Schools in Murfreesboro.
  • Todd Lane near David Youree Elementary School and Thurman Francis Arts Academy in Smyrna.
  • East Main Street near Central Magnet School in downtown Murfreesboro.
