Fisherman throughout the area will be casting their lines soon for an upcoming bass tournament. The 4th Annual Officer Benefit Bass Tournament, sponsored by Lodge 85 of the Fraternal Order of Police in La Vergne, is July 20 at Fate Sanders Marina, 3157 Weakley Lane.

“Every year this tournament helps raise money that goes to charitable causes. Funds are primarily distributed to sick or injured law enforcement officers, but we also help with Christmas gifts and food for local children living in poverty,” said Sgt. Bill Timson, second vice president of the F.O.P. Lodge 85. “The bass fishing tournament provides the opportunity to have a great day on the lake while helping people in need. I encourage all area fishermen to join this friendly contest.”
