A Beech Grove man was arrested on drug charges last week after he texted the wrong person. The message was sent to a number that happened to be a police officer. Twenty-one year old Cody Alyn Cooper of Bull Run Road Beech Grove was charged with manufacture/deliver/sell of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and child abuse. According to a report by Manchester Police Officer Jonathan Anthony, Cooper had been texting a female when the officer texted the number he was informed that the sender was looking to buy drugs. The officer then texted Cooper several times and was informed that Cooper was wanting to buy some pills. The officer texted him back and asked what he had any marijuana to trade for the pills, to which Cooper texted that he did. The officer then texted that he would sell some pills for a price to which Cooper agreed to pay the price. A meeting place was set up and Anthony and Officer Bryan Eldridge got in an unmarked pickup truck belonging to the police department and drove to the meeting place. When the officers arrived and met Cooper and another person, Dustin Cooper, in a car with two small children.
