When a home security company goes door to door soliciting customers...

...your alarm should go off. There has been an uptick in the number of complaints to the Better Business Bureau about security contractors going door to door, using deceptive tactics to get you to switch your service. Murfreesboro Police Major Clyde Adkison tells WGNS news reputable alarm companies are even sending warning notices to customers (like the photo above sent to us by a WGNS listener)...

Adkison says they're concerned with pushy solicitors trying to get into homes and strong-arming citizens into changing their service...

Adkison says you can call Murfreesboro Police for a list of legitimate alarm companies. That number is 895-3874 and ask for the Alarms Enforcement Division. You can also search out businesses on the Better Business Bureau website, which is gobbb.org.
