Blackman High School Student Accepted to World Renowned Dramatic Arts College

A Blackman High School student has made the cut for an extremely competitive school known as the  AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts in New York City and Los Angeles. AMDA stands for the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Sontoya Crutchfield from Murfreesboro has been accepted for the upcoming school year. Admission to AMDA is extremely competitive;  their students come from all over the globe and are selected from auditions held in more than35 cities throughout the United States and in several countries around the world.

Crutchfield is the daughter of Charles Nichols and Sonja Brown and she graduated from Blackman High School with honors and enjoys community service and theatre. Her first role was Asaka in the Sunshine Players production of Once Upon this Island Jr. She has performed at Murfreesboro Little Theatre in The Little Shops of Horrors (Chiffon) and The Best Whore house in Texas (Jewell).Sontoya also had the pleasure and honor to perform at The Center for the Arts in The Color Purple as Celie.  This role lead her to audition for the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, where she will be attending this October.
