The 3rd Annual Bluebird In The Boro concert series will bring The Bluebird Cafe experience to Rutherford County Feb. 29 to March 2, 2016. WGNS News was told that hit songwriters will play "in the round" at Murfreesboro's own Mayday Brewery while guests enjoy drinks and a delicious catered meal.

It's one of Rutherford County's favorite new events, and proceeds will support the building of The Residence at Alive Hospice -- Murfreesboro.

More on the new facility:

On Tuesday (1/26/2016) Alive Hospice President and CEO Anna-Gene O'Neal told Murfreesboro Rotary Club members that they are building this area's first hospice hospital on land that's between St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital and the Murfreesboro Medical Clinic.

The 21,300-square-foot facility will include 10 patient rooms, a large family gathering room, a kitchen and dining room, a sanctuary and a courtyard.

In a moving presentation, O'Neal said, "Patients will receive care from a team that includes a hospice physician, nurses, certified nurse technicians, social workers, chaplains and volunteers."

Murfreesboro's new Alive Hospice Hospital will be Rutherford County's first facility with dedicated beds for inpatient adult and pediatric hospice care, respite hospice care and residential hospice care.

O'Neal continued, "Patients facing terminal illnesses will have the comfort of knowing they can receive the care they need in an Alive Hospice facility that's close to home."

She assured the Rotarians that Alive Hospice will continue providing home hospice care for terminally ill patients and grief support services in Rutherford County as it has for many years.

The new hospital will serve patients needing a more intensive level of hospice care than is typically provided in home settings. It also will provide a peaceful care setting for terminally ill patients requiring short-term respite care as well as hospice patients who are unable to remain in their homes.

The local Alive Hospice program serves families in Rutherford, Bedford, Cannon, Coffee and DeKalb counties.

When the new facility is completed, the Murfreesboro-based hospice home care team and local grief counselor will relocate their offices to the new facility. Alive Hospice currently leases office space in the Stone Gate Corporate Plaza on Medical Center Parkway.
