Bridge OVER Broad St. construction continues in Murfreesboro

Construction at the intersection of Broad Street and Memorial Boulevard / Old Fort Parkway began in January of this year (2014). The $17.6 million project will separate the intersection by creating a bridge that is literally over Broad Street. The bridge is called a single point urban interchange, by state officials.

There are also plans for enhanced lighting and landscaping in the area, along with retaining walls. Other improvements will include sidewalks a curb and a gutter system.

The Nashville Metropolitan Planning Organization identifies the Broad / Memorial intersection as the most congested in Murfreesboro. The Average Daily Traffic on Old Fort Pkwy/Memorial Blvd is 27,240 vehicles. The Average Daily Traffic on Broad Street is traffic county is projected to be 72,740 vehicles. Construction is estimated to be completed in May 2016.
