If you're interested in the proposed improvements to Brinkley Road, the City of Murfreesboro is conducting a public informational meeting at the Blackman Community Club from 5:00 to 7:00 o'clock this coming Tuesday evening (7/18/2017). The club is located at 4310 Manson Pike.

Representatives from SEC, Inc. (Sight Engineering Consultants) will be there to help with the review and answer questions from the public. By the way, SEC is Murfreesboro's consultant for this road widening project.

The City Council approved an amended Design Contract Agreement with SEC Inc. in May 2016 for a preliminary and final design services contract for widening Brinkley Road from Franklin Road (Hwy 96) to Manson Pike. The widening of 2.1 miles of roadway near Blackman High School includes three lane curb and gutter and a bridge over Overall Creek. The improvement also includes reconstruction of Blaze Dr. from Brinkley to Blackman High School already underway this summer.

City Engineer Chris Griffith said, "We are eager to get started on this critical improvement project. Brinkley Road is a busy crossroad from Highway 96 to Manson Pike and getting busier with the expanding growth of the Blackman area."

To review proposed plans of the project prior to the public meeting, the public is encouraged to contact City Engineer Chris Griffith at cgriffith@murfreesborotn.gov or phone (615) 893-6441.
