UPDATE: An ex-husband allegedly attacked his ex-wife in her apartment at 2315 Mercury Boulevard early Monday morning in Murfreesboro. The incident was reported at Tennessee Park Apartments. The brutal attack took place despite an order of protection barring the suspect from having contact with the victim.

46-Year old Reginald Barkley allegedly made his way into the apartment with a sledge hammer just before 2 A.M. on Monday. Barkley reportedly went to the apartment because a male friend was supposedly visiting her and he allegedly did not approve. The male visitor evidently fled to one room of the apartment while the victim ran to another.

Barkley, who lives in Antioch, is accused of stabbing the woman with a screw driver and seriously cutting her scalp with a box cutter. The attack took place with her three young children inside the apartment. The children were not physically injured in the attack. The victim was transported to the hospital with multiple injuries.

Ironically, the victim had intended to be in court this week to extend an order of protection against Barkley.

Barkley was charged with aggravated assault, especially aggravated burglary, attempted second degree homicide, and vandalism. He was booked under a $450,000 bond at 3:30, Monday morning. So far, he has not made bond and remains behind bars.
