Rion Flower Shop is hosting an open house in Murfreesboro. The locally owned business was founded in 1937 by Mattie Rion. Rion was actually one of the first women in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to own a business.

The shop was located on College Street for many years. During that time Mattie's husband Bernice Rion, retired and joined his wife in her growing flower business. Later their daughter, Martha Anne Rion Moffett, joined them and continued the family tradition of working hard and creating beautiful floral designs.
The business continued to grow drawing Martha Anne's son, Jon Moffett, into the family business at a later time. He helped build the business into one of the largest and most reputable flower shops in the Murfreesboro area.
In 1983 Jon moved the flower shop to 117 South Academy Street along side Castelli Design. He also changed its name to Rion Flowers & Gifts because the shop had expanded beyond just the flower business.
Now the business has been passed down to the fourth generation of the family. Jon's daughter, Shela, has assumed the reins and is committed to continuing the family tradition of great service.
