State Representative Joe Carr, a Lascassas Republican, qualified for his party's primary for U.S. Senate against Senator Lamar Alexander. On Monday, he said in a press release the choice in this primary is clear: Senator Alexander is offering a moderate approach that tries to accommodate Barack Obama and Harry Reid. I’m offering voters consistent, conservative leadership that will fight for our Tennessee values. Carr went on to say that over the last seven months, his campaign has built tremendous momentum for the campaign. August 7th will be the federal primary.
