Change Your Mind-Set, Change Your Life

In a recent study of patients whose doctors told them they would die if they didn't make changes in their diet, stop smoking, and exercise, the results were stunning.

Only one out of seven patients made the changes necessary to prolong their lives! Why is this? Why do the goals we want most to accomplish continue to elude us time and time again? Is it a matter of needing more willpower and self-discipline, or not wanting it badly enough? This study suggests not.

Sylvia Hutton, a personal and professional development coach and graduate of the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara, Calif., is slated to keynote RUTHERFORD Cable's monthly breakfast meeting from 7:15-9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at Stones River Country Club, located at 1830 N.W. Broad St. in Murfreesboro.

During her presentation, Hutton will discuss "change" and how "immunity-to-change" keeps people from accomplishing the things they really want to experience in life. The aim of this presentation is to offer attendees a new understanding of the mechanisms of deep change and introduce them to a tool that can help create a new mind-set that supports the desired changes.

Hutton's good friend and long-time musical collaborator, John Mock, will join her for the presentation, and together they will perform a song or two. Mock is a composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist who has worked with artists ranging from Dixie Chicks to Dolly Parton.

RUTHERFORD Cable members and guests are welcome, and the public is invited to attend; the cost for this meeting is $20 and includes breakfast. Reservations are available online at rutherfordcable.org and must be completed by Thursday, Jan. 8.
