92-year old Chattanooga broadcaster Luther Masingill passed away in his sleep early Monday morning (10/20/2014). He is recognized as the only talent in America who was on the air during the two attacks on America, when Pearl Harbor was bombed and when the twin towers of NYC were destroyed.

In 2012, Luther was inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame at a gala here in Murfreesboro at the Embassy Suites. He had a great sense of humor. He slowly walked onto the stage pushing a walker. Half way across, he tossed the walker aside and danced the remainder. His voice was strong, clear and fill with youth and excitement. A few months later, he was honored in Chicago by being inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame. And just two-months ago, Luther was again in MUrfreesboro to be inducted into Middle Tennessee State University's Journalism Hall of Fame. That was August 12th at the Embassy Suites, and a part of the Tennessee Association of Broadcaster's Annual Convention.

Luther worked at only one radio station, a feat in and of itself! He started on New Year's Day at Chattanooga' s WDEF radio in 1941 and was there for almost 74-years.
