To The Rescue
Many Salvation Army volunteers are in tears because of the storm damage that took the roof off their Family Thrift Store, a source of clothing and furniture to the needy and financial support for their cause. The Old Fort Parkway Chick-fil-A to the rescue with "Spirit Day" on Saturday, July 4th. On Independence Day the fast-food restaurant will donate a portion of its sales to the nonprofit.

Profits from the thrift store were used to fund The Salvation Army's shelter program, so the Christian-based nonprofit is working hard to find a new location and adequate storage space for donated items once a new store location is found and opened.
Other Ways To Help
The Salvation Army is seeking hosts for donation drives to run the next 60 to 90 days at churches, businesses, subdivisions and apartment buildings. People can collect clothing, household items, books, DVDs, etc., to drop off at the West Main facility or call to have them picked up.
The Salvation Army will partner with groups to hold "fill the truck" events where The Salvation Army brings its truck to a site where people can drop off their donations.
The organization will need volunteers to staff Murfreesboro warehouse space at 880 Butler Drive to help receive donations and sort them. Warehouse staffing is expected to start the week of July 13 and run Monday through Saturday. Shift times: 6:30 to 9:30 a.m.; 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.; and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are also needed to help handle donations brought to The Salvation Army's Center of Hope building at 1137 W. Main Street during business hours.
To make a monetary donation, go online to www.salvationarmymurfreesboro.org; drop by the 1137 W. Main location; or send checks via mail to PO Box 791, Murfreesboro, TN 37133. Checks should be made out to "The Salvation Army" with "storm damage" in the memo.
