In another case, Craig charged babysitter Brenda Joyce Davis, 57, of Halls Hill Pike with reckless endangerment and child abuse after a 4-year-old boy bit the 1-year-old girl while in her care in July.

"She left two children unattended in her home where the 4-year-old, who has had behavioral issues in the past, proceeded to bite the 1-year-old in excess of 20 times on her back, buttocks, face, arms and legs," Craig said.

The toddler was treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and released to her parents.

During the investigation, multiple marijuana plants were found in Davis' home, some in reach of the young children, the detective said.

"When questioned, Ms. Davis said she used the marijuana mainly for medicinal purposes when making hot tea," Craig said.

After being indicted, Davis was booked into the detention center where she is being held on $20,000 bond. A hearing is scheduled Sept. 25 in Circuit Court.
