City Prepares for Snow

With the weather forecast calling for warming temperatures over night and little chance for snow accumulation, conditions still have Murfreesboro Streets Department Director Rick Templeton preparing for the worst. “We’re ready if we’re needed,” Templeton said. “I’m not expecting for us to be called out but we’re ready if we are.” Unlike the last two years, there is plenty of road salt in the bin at Florence Road and in a satellite location near the Streets Department, he said. Two people are on call and eight others are available if conditions warrant bringing them in. If temperatures drop far enough, he said, black ice may form on bridges and overpasses but he says he’s ready for that too.
