VERBATIM:
Murfreesboro Police spokesman Sgt. Kyle Evans tells WGNS while it's not been the practice of the city to prohibit access to the Stones River at the Manson Pike Trailhead, they plan to post additional signage there. One sign will read "WARNING: Dam is Hazardous," cautioning people about a risk of falling, drowning, that it's not a swimming area and that debris, like trees and rocks, are in the water. Another sign will be posted advising people to cross the bridge safely by not climbing on the rails, jumping from the bridge and stating there's a risk of falling or drowning. Evans says they hope the additional signage encourages safe and responsible recreation. Nineteen-year old James Patton of Cricket Lane drowned Tuesday afternoon, near the Manson Pike Trailhead. Murfreesboro Police and Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue also had to rescue folks on Sunday and Monday.
