City Water and Sewer Connection Fees to Go Up

Water and sewer connection fees are about to go up in Murfreesboro for new construction. Looking back to a November 2010 meeting of the Water and Sewer Board, a motion was approved to roll back “Single-family Residence” water and sewer connection fees to the July 1, 2006 levels. The request was put forth by various builders and developers for the purpose of increasing the number of houses built in Murfreesboro and thus helping lower unemployment by increasing construction jobs. The lower rate connection fee will expire in March and the connection costs will go back up. The connection fees for a Single-family residence will go up from $950 per home to $1,200 per unit for water and the single family sewer connection fee will go up from $1,800 to $2,550.
