The 2015 recipients of the Dr. Liz Rhea Philanthropist of the Year Award are Dene and Hubert McCullough. Because of their support of Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation's A Time to Build Up capital campaign, the Dene and Hubert McCullough Board Room was erected and now serves as the location for Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital's daily morning huddle of management and all Hospital and Foundation Board meetings.

The Dr. Liz Rhea Philanthropist of the Year Award is given each year to the person who most embodies the spirit of philanthropy and giving toward the Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation.

Doctors Brian Lee and Charles Wendt Honored

The Physician Champion Award recognizes physicians who have gone above and beyond in their relationship with Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Their gifts of time, talent and treasure provide a foundation of support for our local hospital, to assure the best quality of care for all patients.

The recipients of the 2015 Physician Champion Award are Drs. Brian Lee and Charles Wendt, radiation oncologists at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Drs. Lee and Wendt were chosen because of the compassionate care they provide oncology patients and for their significant contribution to the Foundation's Cancer Center Campaign, which was completed in 2011. They were two of the first physicians to support this campaign.

Keynote Speaker: Coach Lou Holtz

The Rutherford Society Gala is an annual event held to recognize donors of $1,000 or more to the Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation. This unique black tie event features nationally known speakers, such as the 2015 Gala speaker, legendary Coach Lou Holtz.

Coach Lou Holtz is the only coach in the history of college football to: take six different teams to a bowl game; win five bowl games with different teams; and have four different college teams ranked in the final Top 20 poll. When Holtz took over as Notre Dame's 27th head football coach in November of 1985, he brought with him a well- proven reputation as a fixer of football programs following a series of spectacular repair jobs at William & Mary, North Carolina State, Arkansas and Minnesota.

For many years Holtz has been considered among the greatest speaking legends in America today. He speaks on overcoming seemingly impossible challenges by setting your own goals and working to achieve them. He has built a reputation as a motivator, a demanding disciplinarian and someone who relishes challenges and hard work.

The Rutherford Society Gala is an annual event held to recognize donors of $1,000 or more annually to the Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation. This black tie event features nationally known speakers, which have previously included former NFL quarterback Archie Manning and Good Morning America Co-Host Robyn Roberts. The 2015 Rutherford Society Co-Chairs, sisters Kit Ramsay and Shannon Parsons, are committed to the presence of a successful local hospital in Rutherford County.

"Both Kit and Shannon give so much of themselves to the Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation," said Anne Davis, Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation Director. "We are deeply honored to have their involvement again this year in this premier event, which will undoubtedly be remembered for their personal trademarks of creativity and new ideas."
