Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd and Ebuys, Inc. officials today announced the company will open a new distribution facility in La Vergne. The global online shoe retailer will create approximately 160 new jobs as part of the expansion.

"Ebuys' decision to expand in Tennessee showcases why companies pick our state for their distribution needs," Haslam said. "Our central location offers businesses tremendous access to markets all over the U.S. and our skilled, well-trained workforce is always up to task to help businesses meet the changing needs of consumers. I'd like to thank Ebuys for creating another 160 new jobs in Tennessee and bringing us another step closer to our goal of being the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs."

"During this administration, transportation and distribution companies have invested more than $3 billion in Tennessee and created more than 21,000 new jobs all across the state," Boyd said. "Ebuys has been a key part of this thriving sector, which is expected to continue to grow 12 percent during the next decade. On behalf of Team Tennessee, I'd like to thank Ebuys for its continued investment and commitment to create 160 new jobs."

Ebuys currently employs around 180 employees at its existing distribution facility in Antioch. Driven by the need to expand Ebuys' online fulfillment capabilities, the new 600,000-square-foot facility will be operational in February 2017. The project brings a local estimated capital investment of $38 million to Rutherford County, including the building, land and personal property.

Ebuys' portion of that investment total will come in the form of personal property. "This is an online fulfillment facility where speed and accuracy are key," David Duong, CEO of Ebuys, said. "The Industrial Park in La Vergne stood out with access to major markets, proximity to interstate highways and a ready workforce. Our collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, the Tennessee Valley Authority and the community also contributed to our final decision to invest in the city of La Vergne."

"We are excited that Ebuys has chosen La Vergne for its distribution facility," La Vergne Mayor Dennis Waldron said. "We congratulate them on their decision to expand their Tennessee presence and welcome them to our community."

"We congratulate Ebuys on its decision to expand in Tennessee," Destination Rutherford Chairman Bill Jones said. "We welcome them to Rutherford County and wish them many years of continued success."

"TVA and Middle Tennessee EMC congratulate Ebuys on its decision to expand in Middle Tennessee," John Bradley, TVA senior vice president of economic development, said. "We are proud to partner with the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Rutherford County and the city of La Vergne to help facilitate continued job growth in the Valley."
