Congratulations Central Magnet School

Rutherford countians should be bursting with pride about Central Magnet School. US News and World Report just released it study showing this was the fourth highest ranked school in the Volunteer State. That's out of more than 21-thousand public schools across the 50 states.

Principal John Ash has been on NewsRadio WGNS several times this year, and always shares success stories of the 12-hundred students who have passed entrance tests to attend this school of excellence, but this new study further shows how well the school is doing. When compared to the it ranks toward the top at 278.

Central Magnet's student-teacher ratio is 18 to 1. They were well above the state average of students who were ready for college with 61.7 per cent being ready. 95 per cent passed the algebra proficiency exams, while 100 per cent were English proficient.

The top five ranking high schools in Tennessee were in this mid-state region. The first two positions were in Nashville, with Hume-Fogg Academic High School and Martin Luther King, Jr. Magnet School at Pearl holding the top positions, and Hendersonville's Merrol Hyde Magnet School being number four.
