A registered Sex Offender was arrested in Murfreesboro after police determined he was within 1,000 feet of a school and a park. Registry laws do not allow for offenders to be within such a close proximity to either of the two locations.
25-Year old Justin D. Watkins was tracked down because of a GPS device that he is required to wear. When police arrived in the neighborhood near the school and park, Officer Doughtie was able to track him to a near exact location because of the electronic monitoring device.
Watkins was convicted in 2012 on charges of “Sexual Battery.” He is classified as a “Sexual Offender” as opposed to a “Violent” Sexual Offender.
