Convicted Sex Offender Arrested for Allegedly Possessing Stolen Gun

A registered sex offender was arrested by Murfreesboro Police for illegally possessing a weapon. Officers assisted the Tennessee Department of Corrections with a visit to the home of Jessie Robert Scruggs. Once at the home, police say they found a loaded shotgun. It is against the law for convicted felons to possess a firearm in Tennessee. Law enforcement later confirmed the gun was stolen out of Mississippi in 2009.

68-Year old Scruggs is on the sex offender registry for a aggravated sexual battery conviction in 1982.
