Commissioner Robert Stevens stated:

More:

Rutherford county Sheriff Robert Arnold is a name that if you didn't know it before last week, you know it now.

Sherriff Arnold is currently under TBI investigation for his role in a company known as JailCigs.

JailCigs sells electronic cigarettes to one of the largest jails in the state, which just happens to be the one sheriff Arnold is in charge of.

The company is owned by his aunt and uncle and his wife works for them part time.

Allegations have been made that the sheriff is making a profit off of the electronic cigarette sells because he listed JailCigs as a source of income.

If the allegations are true it would be a class E felony.

We spoke to County Commissioners on Thursday night to ask what they think about the investigation. District 8 Commissioner pettus read thinks this is embarrassing to the county.

He says the decision is up to the citizens and they will have to be the ones to say something if the allegations are true.

We also asked Commissioner Robert Stevens of district 12 what he thinks about the allegations.

He agrees with commissioner read that the decision lies with the people of the county and should file a complaint with the ethics committee if they want to see something more done.

We will continue to keep you updated as the investigation continues. For News Radio WGNS I'm Bethany Thompson.
