The annual Rutherford County CrimeStopper's luncheon was held Monday (7/27/2015) at the Smyrna Town Centre and each of the six local law enforcement agencies honored their outstanding member.

Congratulations to the 2015 honorees who have made this community a safer place for everyone:

•Detective Sgt. Dan Goodwin with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department
•Officer Reginald Primas with the Murfreesboro Police Department
•Officer John Fesmire with the La Vergne Police Department
•Lt. Barton Myers with the Smyrna Police Department
•Field Training Officer Jason Hurley with the MTSU Police Department

Each year, Rutherford County agencies have the opportunity to name a person who has gone the extra mile in their service area. The nominations are then submitted to CrimeStoppers and honored at the luncheon.

Murfreesboro Police Department's Major Clyde Adkison has coordinated the local CrimeStoppers program almost since it's inception about thirty years ago.

Adkison explained that when a person phones 615-893-STOP (7867) with a tip, they are totally anonymous and are eligible to receive cash rewards up to $1,000 if their tip leads to an arrest and conviction.

He stressed that the person who calls is given an identifying number and police never know their identity. The reward is delivered to informer by a local citizen who is on the CrimeStoper's board. This is done at a pre-arranged public location. Throughout the entire process, the only identification is the number assigned when the call was initially taken.
