As expected, proposed changes to road and school zones previously discussed in December were finally voted on at Thursday's meeting of the Rutherford County Commission. Without reports by 4 of the 7 committees, the floor was clear for board members and commissioners to debate and discuss the suggested changes, which would take effect in 2020, but be almost immediately changed again in 2022 to suit data from the next census which would be released in 2021. The commission seemed to be divided along essentially the same lines as they were in the December discussion, which yielded a fairly predictable vote, as the measure was ultimately voted down, 12 to 9.
