Czech Ambassador Bringing Flag To 'Boro

The Cripple Creek Cloggers have been described as goodwill ambassadors for the Heart of Tennessee. Group founder Steve Cates took that to a new level.

The retired educator who founded the Appalachian style dancers as a 4-H project back in 1967, saw the discomfort in the dance troupe from the Czech Republic who had neglected to bring their country's flag to International FolkFest all this week in the mid-state. He then contacted the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington and asked them to send a flag to Murfreesboro.

Not only did Cates get the Czech flag, but on Tuesday he learned that Ambassador Petr Gandalovič is delivering it to Murfreesboro in person. Plus, Gandalovič and his wife, Pavlína, will enjoy the local performance by the Czech group JARO.
